USB 2

Hi All,
I have been receiving an informational message of late relating to my USB
ports. When I connect a USB2 device the PC displays that "Your USB device
will run faster if you connect to a USB 2 Port". My PC is 1-2yrs old Core
Duo 2Ghz. All my USB ports should be USB 2. How can I check and resolve this
issue - would my Motherboard require a BIOS upgrade ??

Kind Regards
Dubs

You're message got through. You don't have to post twice. Seems the
server is having issues and telling you, you have a problem posting but
you are not. Someone will repsond. I also suggest you use a
newsreader even Outlook Express. The web interface is poor.

To get USB 2 to work:

1) Check in Device Manager and look for any "Enhanced" USB controllers

2) Make sure that you are using at least SP1 with your XP.

If your USB 2 ports still do not work, you may need to do a complete
"reset" of the USB ports, root hubs and controller. Disconnect all
USB devices you can and uninstall all the device in the Universal
Serial Bus controller section.

Some add-ons to that. If you do not have the Enhanced USB controller, you
need a driver for it.

If you have a USB mouse, you will more than likely lose use of it during
removal of USB in device manager. You have to know how to negotiate the
keyboard at that point to finish the job.

Some motherboards did not provide full USB 2.0 support to all USB ports,
only some of them. Your mouse for instance, only needs 1.1 support.
