URLs no connect

Ron

I can not connect to some web sites. Starting several days ago my
computer will not connect to some urls.
I can connect to vanguard but not fidelity, I cann connect to ebay.ca
but not ebay.com I cannot connect to other URLs butmost URLs I have no
proplem with. I pinged and tracert'ed both the good sites and the bad
sites. Good ones show connection all the way to the URL and bad ones
get blocked along the way.

Other friends next door who are connected to the same dsl provider and
ISP have the same responses to ping and tracert but can connect to all
of the URLs that I cant.

We are all using LINKSYS routers and Dare Modems an XP

Any help that you can provide would be welcomed.

Hi,

If running a cable modem, dsl modem or router, have you, at some point, shut
everything down for a few minutes? This sometimes helps.

Or, deleting the History folder and TIF folder may help:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Try disabling third-party security programs to see if one of them is causing
this. Before disabling a third-party firewall, turn on the Windows Firewall
(Control Panel> Windows Firewall.)

[WinXP]
Try opening a Cmd window (or from Start> Run) enter
ipconfig /flushdns
then clear the Temporary Internet Files and restart.

Or make sure that Windows is showing hidden files and is not hiding file
extensions for known file types then check for a HOSTS file at
[WinXP]
[C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc] Open the HOSTS file with notepad. If there
are any redirect entries in it you can put the pound sign (#) in front an
entry to disable that redirect. Or you can rename the HOSTS file to
HOSTS.OLD
More on the HOSTS file at http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/
and
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

See if there's anything else to try at:
Can't display- DNS Errors: http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/16.html

Hope this helps,
