Outlook 2007
I am trying unsuccessfully to send zipped files through Outlook. I have one
zipped folder containing 6 other zipped folders, when I click Attach File
Outlook's dialog box does not even list the zip file. If I try to send the
six zipped files individually Outlook sees them but only "looks" in them
when and shows the files they contain rather than inserting the zip file
itself. HELP PLEASE! this must get sent within the hour.

Thanks in advance... Bob

I can right click and choose select but when I do so it just shows the files
in the zipped folder rather than selecting the whole folder to attach. It's
like Outlook only wants to add non-zipped folders. Keep in mind the
"master" zipped file that I really want to add does not show up at all.

So, Zip folders only work in Outlook's file selection or elsewhere in the
OS?

Zip files are, by default, treated by Windows ad compressed folders and behave
like folders. Just like you can't use the Attach feature of Outlook to attach
a normal folder, you can't attached compressed folders, either. You must turn
off Windows' handling of zip files as compressed folders and Vince's reference
tells you how. Do not say it doesn't apply to your case until you understand
what's happening and have tried it.

Thanks for the tip Brian, I guess that part of it does apply. What I was
referring to is that when I have several zipped folders nested in a main
zipped folder Outlook did not seem to even recognize the existance of that
main zipped folder. It shows fine with Windows Explorer and I can work with
it, it is indeed there. Why does Outlook not see it at all?

Okay, I surrender. I turned off that feature and everything works fine now.
My apologies.
