Laptop with xp sp2.
I put something flat down on the keyboard, and next thing
I knew the desktop is upside down! Everything opens upside down.

How to fix, please?

Hi Sylvia,

To reverse the procedure, place your keyboard flat on the item you laid flat on it.
<S>

Levity aside:
Press Ctrl+Alt+Down Arrow key or Side Arrow key.

If it doesn't rotate back to where you don't have to stand on your head to use it:
Right click on the desktop and see if Rotate Screen is listed anywhere in the popup
menu. If not:
In the popup menu click Properties.
Click the Settings tab > Advanced button > Video device manufacturer tab.
Look through the separate tabs/menus for anything related to "Enable Screen Rotation"
and "Hotkeys". If you find Hotkeys, note which combination is used to rotate the
screen and press the combo needed to overturn the issue.

Once the screen is upright Disable screen rotation.

Mostly solved, thanks...see below...but...
Only one problem left, I can't move icons where I had them
in various parts of the desktop.
They are all bunched up on the left side, like little soldiers.
How to make them movable again?
I did hunt a few options, but the icons pop back into line again.

Thanks, that changed the screen back to upsideup.

I found this and disabled rotation, thanks again!

Never mind, I diddled some more, unclicked auto arrange and align to grid,
and I'm in control again!

Sorry to be a pest...

In no way are you a pest, not even close. If I were even to consider you as one,
I'd have to up-rate those that truly are.

You can use "Align to grid" as it shouldn't effect your personal icon placement.

Glad to see you diddled your way to a resolution.

Stay in control and enjoy. Good luck and have fun.
