Upgrading to XP Professional AFTER installing SP2 on XP Home.

I was wondering how I can plan to upgrade my XP Home machine to XP
Professional after applying the service pack 2 on the XP home edition.

I don't have any problems what so ever with the current configuration, but I
need to benefit from XP professional extra features.

1- Long way to me is : Uninstall SP2 then upgrade to XP Pro. then install
SP2 again?
2- Short way (if possible) streamline SP2 with the XP Pro. and install the
modified XP Pro. with SP2?

Easy - upgrade XP Home/SP2 with XP Pro, when the upgrade finishes, go to
windows update and reinstall SP2 - it's that simple. Or choose the second
option you mention, either way will work, just your option 1, removing SP2
from Home is an unneeded step.

Trying to upgrade XP Home with SP2 applied using XP Pro without SP2 will
result in a message that you are trying to upgrade a newer version and will
not allow the upgrade.
The options the OP listed are the two current options available.
