Upgraded to windows XP, can't open Norton Antivirus

I recently downloaded windows XP and upgraded from WIndows Me, but now i can
not open my Norton 2004 antivirus. any suggestions or help

When upgrading to XP, you needed to remove the annti-virus before and then
re-install it.

Now, you will need to try to remove the NAV and then try to re-install it.

Because Win ME is based on the WIN 98 code set and Win XP is based on the
WIN NT code set, NAV has totally different programs versions on the install
CD tailored to each OS. You will need to uninstall NAV and reinstall so
that NAV installs the correct version. Be sure to use the Symantec's
SYMCLM.EXE utility (available on their website) AFTER uninstalling the WIN
98 version and BEFORE installing the Win XP version. Failure to do so can
trash your XP install requiring a reinstall, repair or even a recovery
install of XP, not just NAV.
