Upgrade

I have recently upgraded my PC with larger Hard Disk, new Motherboard and a
faster Processor.

I was advised by the shop who carried out this work that my Windows XP had
to be reinstalled.

When the PC was returned I just happened to notice that the Product ID for
my Windows has changed on the last three digits.

The mechanic who carried out the reinstallation of Windows informed me that
every time Windows is reinstalled the Product ID will change.

I do not doubt his statement, but would like to hear from others, who
experienced the same and whether they then encountered any problems with
Microsoft Updates, Technical Assistance etc.

Thank you in anticipation

that's not completely true. something weird happened there.

as long as you're dealing with the same physical computer, you can keep your
product key no matter how many times you reinstall

however, usually microsoft issues you a new key.

that XP activation causes the problems.
