Upgrade to Windows XP-Critical

I am installing critical updates to Windows XP home
edition. The last one is #816093-"Microsoft Virtual
Machine" (Microsoft VM).
This update states you cannot remove if it is installed.
I know I probably would not want to remove a critical
update after it is installed, but I want to make sure
this particular update will not harm the workings of my
computer. I am new to the computer world and am nervous
about installing this update without an expert opinion.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Renata

make a restore point before yoi install - then if it fouls up, just restore
from the restore point you made.

Thank you for your prompt reply, but I just started in
the computer world and don't know what you mean by a
restore point. Could you explain and tell me how I might
do this? Again, thank you very much.

before you install, go to Start-All Programs-Accessories-System Tools-System
restore and follow the instructions.

It's a good thing to know about!

If it is a critical patch then it should be installed. It
will not do any harm as long as its a microsoft patch.

All the information given so far is okay, Renata.

Remember, however, do not accept any update information supposedly from MS
via e-mail. They're all hoaxes. MS does not communicate about updates by
e-mail - ever. Visit Microsfot Support for your updates. BTW. The update you
mentiion is okay.
