Microsoft Windows Critical Update

Wes

I received a email about a Critical Update with an
attachment named "Windows Critical Update 088562.exe" This
did seem right, I have never had Microsoft contact me and
do not feel that they will. Can anyone tell me if this is
a legitimate email. The attachment does not apear to have
a virus so I just dont know.
Thanks

Microsoft will NEVER send you a file you didn't ask for. The message is a
hoax and the file contains a virus.

It's an old and well-known hoax. You are correct that Microsoft
never sends out patches by E-mail. The attachment contains a
virus.

As far as I know Microsoft will never send out E-Mails on
any Update. This could be a Trojan or Password steeler.
My recomandation is to NOT open the file and delete it,
use the updates from Microsoft's update site only or
updates from your hardware manufacturers site.
