Upgrade path form XP Home SP2 to XP Pro X64

I have bought a 64 bit computer with an OEM installation of Windows XP Home
Edition. I like to upgrade to the new Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. I
already downloaded the ISO image and created a bootable CD-ROM.

What do I have to do to get the transfer safely done?

- Upgrade to X64 directly or first upgrade to Professional and then to X64?
- Is there a way to install the X64 as a second (alternative) OS on the same
HDD so that I can choose either XP Home or XP Pro X64 afterwards?

Many thanks in advance.

You can not upgrade to XP 64bit. This is an OEM install version and as with
all other OEM versions of XP, it does not do upgrades. You must do a clean
install.

There's no upgrade path from 32-bit WinXP to WinXPx64. You'll need to
perform a clean installation. Make sure that you have all of the
necessary 64-bit device drivers for your PC's hardware components
readily available.

Simply boot from the WinXPx64 installation CD. You'll be offered
the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
