Trying to play Far Cry on my pc which has Athlon 2500 cpu, KS741gx mobo and 256mb ram. The game plays ok until I get to shooting sequences and explosions when it hangs badly. Would a memory upgrade suffice or am I looking at a new system.I'm not that bothered about perfect detail I just want it to run smoothly. Thanks in advance.

Adding another 256Mb RAM to your Asrock board wouldn't go amiss.

Even better, 2 x 512Mb would help.

And most important of all, what video card are you using?

I'm using Mediamax radeon 9600pro 256mb.

That should cope with Far Cry on low settings Ok.

It probably is lack of memory, if you're using Win XP having 512Mb should help that as well.

All Corsair Value select:

256Mb PC2700: £17.57
1Gb (2 x 512Mb matched pair) PC2700: £76.32
1Gb (2 x 512Mb matched pair) PC3200: £88.07

All plus post and packing, all prices from Overclockers.co.uk

The advantage in buying PC3200 memory will be that'll be able to use it in the future should you wish to upgrade.

You may do better if you shop around.

Steer clear of unbranded generic memory.
