upgrade from 98 to 2000

Hi,

can someone tell me how to upgrade from Windows 98 to
Windows 2000, WITHOUT loosing all my data? I have just
recently had to reinstall windows, only this time i
installed windows 98, not 98 second editon. so my
computer recognizes my chip as a pentium 2 and not a
pentium 3. So, I would like to upgrade to windows 2000 to
help solve this problem. Any other suggesstions?

Here are a few points to be taken into account:

- An upgrade from Win98 to Win2000 is possible but will give
you an inferior product, due to the many compromises that
must be made.
- A clean installation of Win2000 will give you the most robust
and most reliable platform.
- Unless you allow your hard disk to be formatted, you will not
lose your data.
- Industry experience says that you must back up your important
files every week, and especially prior to a major upgrade. Not
doing so means that sooner or later you lose the lot.
