updating graphics drivers?

Hi, have nvidia geforce4 ti 4200, was contemplating downloading updated drivers from nvidia website - is there any advantage to doing this, do they continue to develop the drivers fro older cards? My hesitancy was from being instructed to uninstall all original nvidia drivers first and the old adage of "if it aint broke don't fix it" ran through my head.

Thoughts?
