Updates were unable to be installed

I tried to install the following High Priority Windows Updates:

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Service Pack 3, English Version
Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) (KB883357)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB833987)
Microsoft GDI+ Detection Tool (KB873374)

When I clicked on the Install button, a box says:
Updates were unable to be successfully installed, the updates were not
installed.
I checked to see if they were previously installed and were not. How do I
get them to install or what do I do now?

Hi Inez,

Locate the WindowsUpdate.log file under \Windows or \Winnt. Open it and
scroll to the bottom. Look at the error codes and compare them against this
site:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/
