Updates of 11/15/06

I was notified of the presence of updates at nearly midnight
yesterday. I guess I should have just gone to bed but I accepted
the option to update. I forgot to demount my USB hard disc and
got the usual flame out. Trying again, the process seems to have
worked but I must say the messages during update were singularly
unhelpful without any indication of progress most of the time. I
assume that the machine is updating when the disc activity light
is on and don't need repeating identical messages to say that!

I am also not convinced that IE7 is any real improvement but
time will tell :)

I have never unmounted my external usb drive to download updates and
have never had a problem, yet. Also, don't you get a message after the
computer is updated that tells you your computer has been updated? I
don't use the automatic update feature, though. I just do it manually
on or near "update Tuesday" each month.
