Thank You.

I tried it and could not get it work properly with Mozilla (1.7.5). It
seems that there is something wrong with the Netscape/Opera plugin.
Anyway, version 1.8 works just fine with Mozilla.

ISTM that this v.1.9 doesn't work well also here with Firefox, while 1.8
worked. Is there anyone else who can give a feedback about this?

V 1.9 produces a Visual Basic runtime error message in Opera 7.54u1.

Running Win 98SE.

I received word on this problem from Winget support:

"WinGet 1.9 requires Internet Explorer version 6.0, though 5.0 is
mentioned in the help file (now we're updated the doc and setup file).
Please upgrade your IE to use WinGet 1.9."

Haven't tried it with Firefox but 1.9 works with K-Meleon 0.9.

Just out of curiousity, the Opera downloader is pretty good on its own
(supporting resume, etc.), and I've always been suspicious of those
"300%" speed increase claims for downloaders, so why do you bother
using a downloader with it?

I have DSL, so I don't know that I need one (although I have several
older versions of several downloaders sitting unused on my hard
drive). With ten megabytes coming down in a minute or so, it doesn't
seem worth the hassle to try to speed that up (although I am
considering calling SBC and trying to get them to switch me to their
3Mb DSL service for under $40 than my current 1.5Mb service for
$49.95!)

I have ADSL with max. 416 kbit/s downstream. Using Opera's downloader I
typically get around 41 kB/s download speed from fast servers. With WinGet
or LeechGet (both integrate with Opera) I get around 49 kB/s. In both
download managers, 3 threads per download are used.

Well, nowhere near 300%, I'd say, more like 15 percent, but an
improvement. On my 1.5Mbps SBL DSL, I get top speed around 150-160
kBps. I'm not sure a 15 percent improvement would be worth the hassle
of messing with an external downloader.

Especially since I considering calling up SBC and asking them to
switch me from the old 1.5Mbps service at $49.95/month to their
current 3Mbps service for $36.95/month - threatening them with my
converting to Comcast cable with gives 3Mbps/month for $26.95...:)

I'm not sure anymore either... I just unchecked the external download
manager in Opera to see how it 'feels' without one...
