Update during shutdown

When I turn off my computer, it goes to a screen that says "Updates are being
installed (1 of 1)... Do not turn off or unplug computer, it will turn off
automatically."
I have no updates, have checked Windows and Office for latest updates and am
up to date. This screen will sometimes stay for as much as 12 hours before
finally shutting down the computer. What is it, where did it come from, and
what can I do about it? Thanks

Click the option that says Shut Down only, not the one that says Install
updates and shut down.

I don't have those options. I'm talking about clicking "start" "turn off
computer" and getting the box that says "standby" "turn off" "restart". When
I click "turn off" it starts installing updates (of which there are none) and
hangs up for hours.
