update cd/dvd xp river after crash?

Does any one remember the cd/dvd update Microsoft recommends after
submitting a trouble report to help fix crashes.
I know this sounds vague but a couple of times when reporting with the
automated system after a crash or lock up it has recommended to upgrade this
"core" driver. The file name is what I can't remember, it is something like
afsi, arfi, etc.

Thanks

atapi.sys maybe? This is the file that controls your CD\DVD Drives.
I'm not sure of a hotfix or anything that fixes this, but if you install
Windows XP Service Pack 2, it will replace this file with the latest
version.

Oh, I forgot to add. It may also have been ASPI? That should be
included with whatever CD\DVD burning software you have installed or you
can get it from www.adaptec.com who makes the ASPI for Windows.

Thanks for the info but this file is an update from a third party. I only
found out about it from a response from the automated error reporting
"wizard" after sending a report following the message" windows has recovered
from a serious error".

Thanks again though.

Interesting. Thanks for the follow up. I was thrown off because I was
trying to think of a Windows file instead of a software programs file.
That aside, I still wouldn't have been able to suggest that file :)
