Unwanted notices

I have the Italian version of Windows XP Home Edition. I have a problem with
the bar at the bottom of the screen with all the icons (“Barra delle
applicazioni†= task bar??). I find it very annoying at every restart that
the wireless connection icon always advises me when I am not connected. I
have found that I can personalize these notices: right click on task bar,
click “personalize noticesâ€, click “wireless connectionâ€, select “hide
alwaysâ€, click “OKâ€, click “Applyâ€, click “OKâ€. The wireless connection icon
is then hidden. TROUBLE IS, it reappears at the next start up. The system
does not remember to keep it hidden. How can I solve this or, alternatively,
definitively banish this icon from the task bar? Thanks for any replies.

Hi Robert,
Try this: Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
connections >> Double click Network Connections.
There on the Wireless Icon right click and select Properties, on the
Properties under general tab there two Check boxes at the Bottom of the
window:
[ ] Show Icon in Notification area when connected
[ ] Show Icon on Notification area when there is limited or no
Connectivity .
Uncheck those two boxes and click [OK].
Does this help.

Hi Nass,

Thanks for your reply. I have tried your useful suggestion. Unfortunately,
and perversely, it seems to make no difference!

Robert, try the following, it should answer your question.
Go to Start > Connect To > Show all connections . Right click on
Wireless Connection > Left click "Disable".

The same procedure applies to Local Area Network Connection if you wish.

Cheers Bo

Thanks Bobang, but I don't want to disable the connection, I just want to
disable the notifications!
