New computer problems.

I've rolled the computer back to XP from Vista using the software provided
by the manufacturer.

One problem I have is XP came with IE7 installed and doesn't seem to have an
option to roll back to IE6 in add/remove. I don't like IE7 for a lot of
reasons. One of which is I want menu items I use a lot such as refresh on
the toolbar. Another is I can't unpin favorites and auto hide it etc.
Another is the menu bar dissapears when I do full screen auto hide and I
can't move them around and stick all the bars on the same bar etc. Is it
possible to do so as I have the IE6 and IE6 sp2 download?

Next question is, for some odd reason the wireless connection at startup
says it's connected, yet it isn't. I have to right click the task bar icon
and choose repair connection, after that it's fine. What can I do to fix
this?

If the "XP downgrade" system had IE 7 included into it, contact the
Tech Support for this PC.

If the manufacturer provided you an image of XP, reverting to IE6 might
not even be an option.

What is the make and model of the PC? What specific method/software were
you given (with regard to what you wrote above)?

I think Tech support for the computer would just laugh. Any software with a
higher version number is supposed to be a good thing, although in my opinion
it's often bloated crapware full of useless nonsense. Which is why I rolled
the computer back to XP. I've a ton of software that does just exactly what
I want it to, that caused me nothing but problems trying to get it installed
on Vista and I decided the hassle and expense of upgrading all my software
wasn't worth it, when I had the option of downgrading to a better operating
system. Either way, Vista or XP, I'd be stuck with IE7 or 8, doesn't mean I
like it though.

Is "Windows Internet Explorer 7" not listed in Add/Remove Programs?

Yes, you can but it's still going to involve Favorites Center, not the
IE6-style Favorites.

PS: You can enable the Menu bar, if you want.

A certain amount of toolbar customizing is available, some requiring a
third-party toolar.

No, if "Windows Internet Explorer 7" is not listed in Add/Remove Programs,
you cannot revert to IE6.

Contact the manufacturer's tech support: You've paid for it.

How to uninstall Internet Explorer 7

Thanks, finally someone with a real answer to a question instead of
nonsense. To the others, if you don't have an answer why do you bother
posting, as your not helping anyone. If I wanted to install a bunch of
third party applications to get a damned web browser to do what I want it
to, instead of what some marketing drone's and a bunch of egomaniacal
programmers at Microsoft who can't stop messing with a good thing deemed
optimal, I'd install Firefox.

Looks as if I'll need to do the second option on that web page, I have I.E.
SP2 and Windows XP SP3, so that shouldn't be a problem.

The laptop is a Sony VGN-Z610Y and I've disabled Sony's Wireless
configuration application as well as Intel's wireless app. to let Windows
manage it, as I've found when you have more than one application fighting to
control the wireless chip it causes even more problems. At startup, Windows
says it's connected and the connection is excellent, however I have no
internet access till I right click and choose repair at which point IP
config is just releasing and renewing the IP address. A weird problem that
has usually been solved in the past on other machines by letting windows
handle the wireless configuration. Any ideas?

Do that & you'll void your Warranty and any Service Contracts, d00d.

Mr Muddle,
Just a suggestion. But, if the 'repair' option (release
/ renew) works after Windows has started - what happens if you disabled
automatic connection and waited till after Windows was up and running before
trying to connect?
