Unwanted implantation from a website

R

Randy

Yesterday I opened an unwanted e-mail from a pornsite
that had somehow gotten my address. I was wishing to
block the mail so I didn't receive any more e-mails.
After clicking on the link to unsubscribe, a window
popped up confirming the unsubscription. About an hour
later, after I was finished browsing, I closed my
Microsoft Internet Browser and found about 20 icons on my
desktop that did not belong there. I started up my
browser today and my home page was changed to the porn
website and I now have a porn toolbar. I am not this kind
of person and have tried everything from going through My
Computer to delete everything. When I open the browser
after deleting the folders that I thought would get rid
of it, everything is still the same. I don't know what to
do to get this off of my computer. And after it is
deleted, how can I be sure it won't happen again?

Sounds like you've been hijacked. Download HijackThis
(search Google for it) and Spybot S&D. Try an
adware/spyware forum for help using these products.
Never, ever try to unsubscribe from spam; this just lets
them know your address is real. Don't try to block the
sender, it's probably spoofed.
