unmountable boot volume

Long story short:

I had to upgrade a video driver to play Madden 2005 on my machine. I
downloaded ATI Catalyst 5.2 driver and associated control software onto a
machine XP Pro upgraded to SP2. Everything ran fine for a week. One day my
wife turns on the computer and the machine asks for an administrator
password....which we have never configured. We hit enter and access the
machine and then shutdown for the evening. The next morning, Windows will
not load. I tried every option.....Safe Mode, Safe Mode w/ blah blah blah,
Start Windows Normally, Last Known Good Configuration, etc. None of them
work and the machine just restarts over and over.

I was able to get the blue screen detailing the error and the second
hexadecimal spot listed 0XC0000006. I have checked the KB for this, but my
error coded doesn't match what is listed.

I have created the Boot Disks, but my CD version of XP Pro does not have SP1
or SP2 on it. How is this going to affect my machine when I try to do a
repair? Will I have to re-install all of my programs if the system reverts
back to the "original" version of XP?

Hi,

Use the boot disk set to run chkdsk C: /r on the drive.
