unmountable boot volume

hello

my husband's computer gives the unmountable boot volume when he now turns
his pc on. We have tryed to chkdsk but we cannot get in that message appears
as soon as the pc is turned on. we cannot boot from the windows cd either, so
what is there left to do? Like i said we cannot even get into safe mode, or
use the cd, or chhkdsk either. If you can help please let me know.

Power off
Desktop:...Open the case and reseat the hard drive IDE ribbon cable at both
ends.
Laptop/Portables:... simply remove and reinsert the hard drive.

Otherwise go to the website of the hard drive manufacturer and download
their hard drive diagnostics.

Do you have a hard drive overlay such as Max Blast?
Windows XP sometimes has issues with overlay software.
You may need to perform a Clean Installation without their overlay software
which is not needed anyway.
