unknown virus that delete zip and jpeg file

Hi Dear
the virus or trojan attacked to my laptop it is doing delete all jpeg
and zip file and damaged othe folder and it changed to foldername.exe
i want to know what is this virus and can i recover lost file.
please help me.

David, I hate to be disageable, but I also hate people who cannot restrain
themselves to dictate their preferences.

Whatever the antivirus software is, the professional answer is "renew then
update your AV".

Let the guy decide if he wants to change for an other one later. This is
what this news group is made for.

Actually, people don't renew their AV even when they know it out of date
because of cost. There are free AV or almost free AV that are not as
clumsy as McAfee and that do a better job than McAfee.

Personally, when I run into people using McAfee I encourage them to
switch to something else. I can't tell you how many McAfee systems I've
run into that were not even updated, not once, and the users though they
were fully protected and getting daily updates.

So, the professional answer is to direct them to an AV product they can
use, will use, and will be able to keep updated.

If they install their AV by themselves (McAfee or whatever) it works and it
updates properly.

The problem is that usually the machines are sold with an AV bundeled on it
and nobody tells the buyer he must register the product first.

AntiVir is *better* than McAfee. Both in its catch rate and in adding new signatures.

Kaspersky and NOD32 are the two best. Many rank Kaspersky slightly higher than NOD32 but
consumes more resources than NOD32.

I find I can submit samples to Kaspersky and get recognition within a few hours and
signatures generated and posted not long after that.
