unknown error re: wmp3 & wmp10

Still having issues with this. I deleted the few songs I had in my mp3, then
started over but it won't sync many, many songs & all it says is this:
"Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error. This can occur when
another program or operating system component encounters a problem but does
not communicate the nature of the problem to the Player."

So how can I find out what the issue is ? Before I accidentally deleted
them all previously, they all went into the mp3, but now ? not so much

thanks

glad to see you back jerry & glad all is well & nothing was wrong.

i finally decided to upgrade to wmp 11, but now, i can't figure out how to
sync only the songs i choose, not all that's in my library - any ideas are
much appreciated.

thanks

I have an iPod. When I sync it it goes through the whole library, but only
adds new songs to the iPod, it doesn't add files already in the library thus
creating duplicate files.

The same thing should happen with your machine, using WMP. Are you saying
you're getting duplicate files ? If not, then don't worry about it.

no jerry, but with only a 2 gb of storage, i have to be selective & want to
be, of just which songs i sync to the mp3. i have some 670 songs, but can
only fit about 400.

thanks a lot jerry!

Create a second library with those you don't want to sync ?

sorry jerry but don't understand - shouldn't there be a way to simply select
the songs from the library & have them sync to the device ?

thanks

Create a second playlist/library or ca "holding" folder.

Put those files your DON'T want to sync into it.

Keep those files your WANT to sync in the original library/playlist, making
sure that the total volume is less than the 2Mb limit of your device.

I can't see any other way round this problem other than my suggestion here.

Select only the ones you want to delete and delete them from your library
and device. That will free up some space for you to add others.

Cheers,
Jerry

Probably not. You need to delete/move them away from the library then sync
the device. Theyu should then have disappeared.

as always, thanks very much jerry.

it seems ms is always in a hurry to get bigger, better, etc. yet they seem
to neglect little, everyday things. seems it should be easy to just delete
from the device only. but i have seen things like this before w/ this set
up.

thanks, so at least now i know for sure.

jerry, i am finally feeling a bit better to try & remove 2-3 songs from my
mp3 & add a few. i am at the sync page & clicked "songs", but it only shows
some 40-50 songs, not all of them - any ideas ?

thanks
