Uninstalling XP Pro Upgrade

While installing ram chips, I fried my motherboard (pressed too hard in
installing chips and bottom side of board shorted on case). Replaced
motherboard with identical board and saved my primary board. But have a
problem that I can't identify. Intermittently--with no identifiable
pattern--system will shut down, restart. Need to reformat hard drive, but am
wanting to move XP Pro Upgrade to a newer computer and remove it from this
system. Do I need to contact Microsoft before I do this to explain that
system must be reformatted and I intend to move XP Pro to a newer computer
which has XP Home and I want to upgrade only on this machine. Will microsoft
permit this, or reformatting of hard drive and reinstallation of XP Pro to
original machine. Original machine came from manufacturer with XP Home. I
have several machines and multiple copies of Home & Pro. Do I need to
identify which software goes to which machine? If so, how? Belarc advisor?
Need guidance. Thanks all.
