Uninstall Quicken fails

Attempted to install Quicken 2005. It first uninstalls Quicken 2004.
Uninstall could not complete, but it did remove enough to prevent running
2004. Add/delete function had same results. Attempt to reinstall 2004 also
first attempted uninstall with same result.
I tried using msconfig to prevent anything running. I tried safe mode but
uninstall won't run there.
Intuit tried everything they know and now claims it is a "system problem"
and I should go to system vendor. Any suggestions?

Typical lousy Intuit support. Quicken has been known to be difficult
to remove. I'm not sure if Intuit has a utility to clean the registry
of all its entries. You might check their site for support\downloads
and see if you can locate one. Otherwise you may be forced to clean
the registry yourself which could lead to other problems.

You might also try a system restore - rolling back the system to
before the trouble began. But if it has been awhile since you
installed Q2004, you won't be able to use restore. If and when you
resolve this, I strongly suggest sending Q2005 back to Intuit and ask
for a refund. Use Microsoft Money 2004 or 2005 instead. I'm not a MS
lover, but Money is a better program.
