Hi,
If your comfortable in working the registry, then you can remove all traces
of Nortons and delete the program files. I had to unistall Norton AV
Corporate editon 7.6 off of our computers to install the new version 9.0.
Several computers the uninstalled failed and I had to spend an extra 30
minutes on each cleaning out the registry.
If you do edit the registry, please back it up first. Then do a search for
Symantec, delete all references to it, except for one location that has
reference to Symantec and other AV and Firewalls. Once you delete all
reference to Symantec, you should check inside the C:\Program Files\Common
Files, there should be a folder called Symantec Shared, delete that as well
as C:\Program Files\Symantec. You may also need to delete if its there a
folder named NavNT or NTNav, forgot which, but that is also part of Nortons
AV. Then reboot your system and you should see its gone from the computer.
Before you can delete those 3 folders though, check to see if Nortons is
running on your task bar, if so, you will only be able to delete the
Symantec folder. Boot into safe mode then and you should be able to get rid
of the other two folders.
I hope this helps, that is what I had to do for Nortons Anti-Virus Corporate
Edition 7.6.
