Undoing Partition Magic 6.0

Before I upgraded to Windows XP I used Partition Magic 6.0 to split my
80GB hard drive. I'd like to undo that partition but I'm unable to
use PM 6.0 due to it's incompatibility with XP (my fault for not
noticing this issue during XP upgrade).

Do I have any options other than starting completely over? Thanks for
any info.

Since you did this before WinXP, it must be FAT32. Use the Partition Magic
boot disk to re-size partition if so. PM 7 works with NTFS as I recall.

I agree with Kent, as long as you haven't changed the file system to NTFS
you can use the partition magic boot disk to resize the partition. But make
sure you have backed up all the important stuff, as always.

So, disc #2 of my boot disc won't read (bad CRC ?). Do I still have
any other options since my boot disc doesn't work?
Thanks,
d.

Hi,
Disk 2 contains pqmagic.exe + other files I think, copy that files to a safe
place on your HD format a fresh floppy then copy the files back onto the
newly formatted floppy. As long as disk 1 boots ok there shouldn't be a
problem.

Also realised the files will be on the CD so if you cannot read the Disk2
floppy then use it to copy the files names from the CD.

After reinstalling PM 6.0 I tried to delete my partitions and resize
the drives. Unfortunately the XP upgrade wouldn't allow these changes
to take place after rebooting. So I ended up downloading a "free for
30 days" utility from Cnet.com called BootItNG. After installing the
app. and following all the instructions I finally have all 80GB back,
worked like a charm. Time to say goodbye to PM 6.0 forever.

You were going about it wrong, I think. Yer tryin' to run pm from
within xp. You shouldn't do this. You should boot into a pm floppy.

PM doesn't care about the operating system.

But BootItNG is an excellent program also.

Glad you got it fixed.

Have a nice week...
