I've just deleted a program called Big Fix using add and remove by mistake.
Now I have read before that you can recover deleted stuff
but can't recall how. I'd be greatfull for any advice.

To retrieve a file you have deleted, double-click the
Recycle Bin icon on your desktop. Right-click the file you
want to retrieve, and then click Restore.

Cheers Maggie
unfortunately It was deleted by add and remove programs which doesn't put it
in the recycle bin.

Well, keep trying. Post again with full details about what
did not work. Someone here has the answer.

Hi,

http://hccweb1.bai.ne.jp/~hcj58401/

But the longer you use the system, the less likely that recovery will be
successful. All common "undelete" programs rely on the files not being
overwritten. Once they are, then recovery becomes more difficult and usually
requires the work of an data recovery specialist using expensive forensic
tools.

If you have removed a program using the Add/Remove feature of Windows XP,
the only recovery for this would be a reinstall of the program. Remove will
take out registry entrys and other ties to the operating system which may be
required to run the program.

The recycle bin and undeleting the files will not work in most instances
because of the registry entries being removed.

Dohh!
I've just got the latest version of big fix as a free download from Evesham
site.
Mine came preinstalled with PC and I didn't realise it was free.
You can now add me to the list of no brainers.
