screen prob

P

I have just installed a new hard drive as my other one failed,
I noticed on my old H\D that my screen flickered and changed to different
colours towards the end of it's life, and since I have installed the new H\D
the same thing occurs.
I thought the problems with the screen was due to the failing H\D but
obviously it wasn't.
Any pointers or advice to rectify this problem would be greatfully
appreciated.

LG Flatron monitor \Geforce 3 graphics card\ direct X9

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Have you tried degaussing the display? Check the manual for how to use the
display controls on the monitor to do this. This may also be a driver issue,
and reinstalling or updating might help. If the display itself is going bad,
and the color problems indicate that it may very well be, then niether of
the above solutions will have any effect. You can also test it by booting to
Safe mode and seeing if there is any difference when using a standard VGA
display adapter.

By display do you mean my graphics card ?
If so, I disabled my graphics card and re-booted still it was the same.

I went into safe mode and this was stable. I left it for an hour to be sure.
Now I am at a loss to what that tells me,or what to do next. Hopefully you
could make some sense of this as you are obviously more up to date on the
subject than myself.

TIA to any responders

Hi,

If it's ok in Safe mode, then either the display adapter (driver) is bad, or
the graphics card is.
