Unattended Installation help

I am planning on doing an unattended installation and I have a few questions I need answered before a follow through with this plan.

When doing an upgrade from windows2000pro to windowsXPpro through a network from server to workstation, (using RIS).....

If I do not format the user pc would I loose any information on that computer or will the upgrade just effect the system files?

Is there a way to turn the installation consistancy checker off?

Are there any sample answer files, distrabution folder setups, cmdlines.txt files, anything that can give me a better handle on how to go about making those.

Can I dump or set the registry in any way before I install XP?

Thanks.

get your XP cd out and go to Support\Tools folder.
extract deploy.cab file and look at the help files inthere.
deploy.chm details the many possibilities of unattended installs and
setupmgr.exe will help you create answer files (unattend.txt, winnt.sif,
etc. as the case may be)
It is a good starting point.
