Unaccessible folders

There are many folders with shortcut arrows on them that have access denied.
Are all these all folders that are there for legacy purposes and have been
replaced by other folders in Vista? If so, what are these now caled?

History?
Temp Internet Files?
Send To?
Start Menu?

And is there a list somewhere that tells what all these unaccessible folders
have been renamed to for Vista?

That is correct - these are junctions that point programs to the new
location; you are unable to double-click on them or browse to them directly.

If so, what are these now caled?

You can see where these junctions point to from the command prompt. Issue a

History? C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\History

Temp Internet Files?

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files

Send To? C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo

Start Menu?

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

And is there a list somewhere that tells what all these unaccessible
folders
have been renamed to for Vista?

Not that I am aware of.

I have a word document that (I think) answers the last part of your
question. But if you open a command prompt as an administrator and run "dir
/al /s" it will give you all the junctions and where they point too.

Dear Jimmy,

Because of the "access denied" on several folders or their having become
junctions, I can't install Windows Mobile Device Center Driver Update Beta 3.
Apparently the installer tries to find C:\Users\....\Temporary Internet
Files\... and discovers that "access is denied."

(Likewise, most of my Start Menu shortcuts do nothing when double clicked,
perhaps because they're in a junction with access denied.)

Is there a workaround here? How about redefining "Temp" as a real directory,
e.g., C:\Temp.
