Unable to update - error 0X80244017

Getting updates from WSUS - How in the heck can I trust this application
when it can't keep it's signatures up to data? It's a crap shoot as to
whether it'll update or not!!

Figured it out - modified permissions on administration web site to try to
lock down who can access it, and removed authenticated users - why does
locking down the administration WSUS site cause updates to fail?
