I need to turn off the Windows XP firewall. I go under control panel and
click on the conenction that I am using (dial up) but when click on "change
settings of this connections" Nothing happens! I tried to do the same under
the high speed one and it opened fine. What am I doing wrong? Please help.

Erika,

Open Security Center (if it's SP2) or Start->Run->services.msc and stop and
disable Firewall service.
Why do you want to disable it on Dial-Up connection?

Do you have an AOL dial-up connection? AOL designed its software to
prevent users from accessing the connection properties or changing the
connection settings.

If you have XP Service Pack 2, you can turn the Windows Firewall on or
off in Control Panel | Security Center | Windows Firewall.

May I ask why you want to turn off the firewall? It's dangerous to
connect to the Internet without an active firewall -- hackers can
break into a computer through an un-firewalled Internet connection in
a few seconds.
