i dont know why, but when i open the "folder options", under hidden files and
folders, there are two options, one "do not show hidden files and folders"
and the other "??????????". and because of that, i cannot unhide all my
hidden files. can someone tell me how to solve this problem?

Hi puzzled,

The two options are: (1) Show hidden files and folders-Select this radio
button, and (2) Hide protected operating system files-UN-check this box.

What is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is
clean, what programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?

Be sure the computer is clean:

Go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings and
verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is checked
and "Hide protected operating system files " is unchecked. You may need
to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make certain that
the box before "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked.

Notwithstanding there remain some files which remain hidden. You still
will not see the System Volume Information folder.

Others not visible include Norton Protected Storage and Rollback files.

Hope this helps.
