Unable to share Printer or files on wireless network

4 computers (2 desktops with XP pro SP2; 1 Dell laptop with XP media center
edition SP2; and 1 Dell Laptop with XP home edition SP2)

I installed an unsecured wireless network, linksys router, (connected by Cat
5 to main desktop computer), linksys PCI card in other desktop computer and
DELL wireless network cards in both laptops. Network worked as it should in
unsecured mode. After a few months decided network needed to be secured.
When network was secured I was unable to file share or print share to the
main computer. (Print and file sharing was still turned on). All other
computers can see and share between them.
Put network back to unsecured mode now have same problem in unsecured mode.

Called linksys for help, unable to figure out the problem. Equipment is
working as expected.

All computers are able to use the internet through the router.
Each computer can be pinged from any other computer on the network.
Windows firewall turned off on all systems.
No change if NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled or not.
Removed network and re-configured using network setup wizard - No change
Removed network and re-configured manually- No change
All compters have same workgroup name

On main computer get following error message when trying to "view workgroup
computers" mshome (workgroup name) not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this
server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for
this workgroup is not currently available.

On other computers get following message when trying to access main
computer: \\kitchencomputer is not accessible. You might not have
permissin to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this
server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not
found.

Any ideas

Check the event viewer on the affected machine for any error messages or
warnings. Check device manager of any network adapter warning. Check that
the machine is using simple file sharing. Check the network settings are
correct. Reboot the machine. Check the machine for an infections.

Several things I need to know...

First, what type of encryption did you use? Probably WEP-128 bit? If so, you
will need to access the router, write down the assigned security/encryption
key, and then go to each computer in your home network and make sure that the
key# is the same on each computer's wireless adapter's configuration screen.

Second, is resource (printers, scanners, etc.) and file sharing turned? Each
of the computers in the network and the main computer (the one that is
physically attached to the router) need to have sharing turned on for the
folders and hardware that you want to share with other computers.

Third, create network place(s) on each computer's desktop that you want to
be able to access from other computers in the network.

Fourth, make sure the channel number is set the same on each computer (the
default channel is usually ch 6).

Good luck.

Yes it was 128, however I have since turned encryption off and have the same
problem.

Sharing is turned on.

Network places are created.

All systems are using the same channel.

Event viewer clear

No device manager errors

Simple sharing is on

NETWORK setting is where I think the problem may be, but I am failing to see
where.

No infections.

Thanks
