Unable to search from Address bar

Lisa

I had a particularly obnoxious internet parasite (which
caused pop-ups to appear even when my browser wasn't open,
and which I cleaned off my computer); however, now, when I
try to use any search term in the address bar, it gives me
the "page cannot be displayed - blah blah blah" error. I
found my registry for the search function (in the local
machine key) had been changed to something
called "seekseek". I have changed it back repeatedly, but
every time I start my browser, it changes back and I can't
use the address bar. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Many thanks! Lisa

Lisa,

"seekseek" is a search-related Spyware hijacker.
Download and run "Hijack This" - instructions and info at this link:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

You may also install SpyBot Search & Destroy and Lavasoft's Ad-aware,
info at same link, above - SpyBot and Ad-aware are Spyware scanners,
(freeware) - that can be run like your pre-installed anti-virus scanner.
