Unable to Save Protected Powerpoint Files

I'm facing a problem in office 2003 and office 2007. If I use a protection
method that uses a password then I cannot save the file no matter how many
times I try and whatever the extension, directory, password or file name I
choose.

What happens is when I initiate a SAVE command it acts like it did save but
it actually didn't, and when I try to close the file it shows the usual
dailog of saving or throwing away the changes I've made. If I click YES for
an already saved file or YES then SAVE for a new file then it acts like I
clicked CANCEL. In short, saving is sort of "doing nothing" if one of the
changes I've did was protecting the file with a password.

Be advised, I'm using an XP system, and I've posted a previous question
before with a title of "CAN'T SAVE PROTECTED PRESENTATIONS" for the same
problem, but the only answer I've recieved is resetting the encryption level.
I do not think I've changed nor I know how to check or change it. I hope my
question finds an answer here. Early thanks.

I'm the one who asked about encryption levels.

If, in PPT 2003, you go to Tools | Options | Security and click Advanced,
you get encryption options. Default is RC4, MS Base Cryptographic Provider
v1.0 with key length 40. I've seen problems when other options and lengths
are used.

I've also seen issues opening passworded files when the user has a roaming
profile and is not on their usual system. Perhaps that's affecting things
when saving? (I've not seen that, but you never know.)

unfortunately, the system with office 2003 faced some problems, i won't be
able to access it before 60 hours from now.

but regarding the "roaming profile", if that means a username that stores
it's data on the system temporarely, meaning that the username folder is
deleted upon logging out/restarting system, then the user i'm using is acting
that way, but you said that the issues you saw was "opening passworded
files", & i'm ok in saving passworded word documents.

anyway, i'll report the results of checking the office 2003 after 60-70
hours, i wish you tell me how to check the encryption on 2007, thanks.

I don't think you can change the encryption level in PPT 2007. Sorry, I
meant to mention that when I posted before.

I don't know of any other reasons you wouldn't be able to save passworded
PPT files. Sure wish I did! Sure wish others had ideas about this, too!
