Unable to "open web" to edit and publish

We have not loaded anything onto our site in a few months....and today when
we tried to load a few new pictures, we are getting 2 different error
messages:

1) The folder has been moved or deleted or network problems are preventing
connection to the server

or:

2) Server error: The server extensions were unable to access the http.conf
Please check the file permissions.

I was not trying to load or save files at this time but simply click on
Frontpage; open web. Usually i get prompted for password and username but
instead I am getting the error messages.

I do all the updates and save on the server, not local then publish. I did
run a search to find a similar question within this help site but did not
find any, apologies if this is a repeat.

Please advise what could be the issue.

Contact your host and have them run a FP SE server health check and repair

Thanks. I have contacted them and they have advised me to uninstall,
reinsall FP extensions but that always seems to be their first line
recommendation.

With file permission issues (error message) one thing I did forget to
mention was we used to be internet explorer but now we are strictly using
Mozilla Firefox. Does the internet browser you use effect permissions in any
way? Could Mozilla not be allowing us to access the server?

It is unlikely to be the browser.

The host's system (& server extensions) is probably causing the issue since
you say that FP is not allowing you to publish according to your subject
line for your original question.

As your host said, reinstall the server extensions (you can probably do that
through the control panel for your hosting account).
