After copying my pst file from the explore window to a CD, now Outlook
doesn't seem to recognize it. I cannot open outlook at all, so I cannot set
up my email again. Following error message shows up;

unable to open default email folders. The file
C:\............\Outlook\Outlook.pst is not a personal folders file.

??????Any advice?????

The file that is in the "applications data" file is not read-only. It is a
pst file, but Outlook says it is not.

Whatever method you used to copy the PST has damaged it enough that Outlook
can't use it. Go back to the original PST and try copying it again, making
sure Outlook is closed on that machine when you do. Burn it to the CD, then
copy if back to disk, remove the read-only attribute, and open it on the
original machne to make sure the copy on CD is good. Then transfer it to
the other machine.

Microsoft Office Outlook Professional Edition 2003.

Unable to open your default email folders.

The file C:\Documents and Settings\James\Local Settings\Application Data \
Microsoft\Outlook \Outlook.pst is not a personal folders file

This occurred when recently I upgraded by loading and installing new
Symantec Norton 360 Anti Virus Software program. I removed Norton but the
MS Office Outlook Pro Ed 2003 will not open ...launch to get to Outlook.

I went into Control Panel...double clicked Mail to get reset but not
successful.

Way one have solutions to resolve my MS Outlook 2003 email to open and launch?

Your assistance is gratefully appreciated and my sincere thanks in advance
for your efforts.
