Unable to install Critical Update

Have tried repeatedly to install Critical Update for
ADODB, stream (KB870669). Installation fails every time
and a report message is sent to MS. Where do I go from
here? Help me please. I have Windows XP Pro on my PC

What operating system?
What Service Pack?
If Windows XP Service Pack 2 is installed, this patch is not needed.

Is there an error message?
If so what?

Download the patch:

Reboot
Disable all unnecessary applications including antivirus, spyware
blockers, internet enhancers etc.
Double click the patch to start the installation process.
Follow prompts and reboot.
You can also follow the instructions on the above link and use the
Manual Process of modifying the registry.

I am having the same problem with Win Xp Home. I get a

message that says it did not pass Windows Logo Test.
