Unable to establish Internet connection

André Flanagan

I have a situation where we were able to connect to the internet. Someone
fiddled on the machine and suddenly we are unable to connect.

When we tried to recreate the internet connection Window XP would not allow
us to select the option to conect using an dial up modem. The only option
allowed was broad band.

The internal modem is installed correctly - it was removed and reinstalled
several times to check. Under diagnostics no error is reported. It is
visible under device manager, and on control panel.

What has gone wrong?

Help please

The usual fix is to re-install your current service pack (SP1 or SP2).
