Unable to download and save or execute program from Internet

Upgraded Windows XP Pro SP2 to Vista Ultimate Beta 2

I try to download and execute a program using IE7+.
The program downloads but I cannot save or execute it. If I try to save the
program, it appears to get immediately deleted. If I try to run the program,
it looks like it's downloading but at the end of the download, the program
does not execute.
I tried to save it on the root of my hard drives - c:\ or g:\ - error
message said I don't have permissions to save into the directory. So I
manually changed the permissions to c:\ and g:\ and gave my userid full
permissions to the directory and subdirectories.

The program appears to download but I can't find it - it appears that the
system is immediately deleting the program.

My login is a member of the administrators group.

I tried settings on IE7+, making the site a trusted site. Still the same
problem.

Help!

You can't write to the root of c:\ unless you are logged in as the default
administrator, which is disabled by default. It is the only full administrator
account that will not have any prompts for trying to run things or delete/write
to locations. Try saving it to your profile directory somewhere (like the
Desktop) and see if it saves.

Hi Mark,

I neglected to say that I tried saving it to the profile directory (which
the system suggested I save the program to). Download appears to finish but
the system appears to delete the program immediately after it finishes to
download - I've seen the program file show up in the directory for a split
second then disappear. I even created a c:\download directory and tried to
download it there - still unsuccessfull.

Thanks,
Francis

Does this happen from ANY web site? If not, can you possibly post the Web
site that you experiencing this issue with here?

Do you have enough space on your hd?
Is there any antivirus or other security software installed that possibly
monitors your download, considers it unsafe and deletes it?

Hi Yuriy,

It happens with at least two websites. www.zinio.com and www.adobe.com when
I try to download their reader programs. I cannot run or find the downloaded
program in the subdirectory I pointed the download to. It goes thru the
download part OK, but the program apparently gets immediately deleted.

I found out that this is happening with another Vista installation in one of
my company's computers.

I don't have an antivirus program running from what I can see. It seemed to
have disabled the Viruscan program I had.

I'm unable to download files such as Office 2007 trial and gadgets for my
desktop.
