Unable to delete protected folder

I have a unique problem for me. I recently had to reinstall Win XP Home
edition. Problem is my old documents folder did not get erased and replaced
like I thought it would. There is a sub folder that is password protected and
since it was under the old setup I no longer have access to it. It has alot
od data that is just taking up alot of space now and need to delete it. None
of the tricks I know how to use to remove protected folders/files under the
previous versions of Windows work, not even the tried and true deltree
command. Can anyone help??????
