Unable to copy photos onto a dvd / cd

When I try to save photos onto a blank dvd or cd a window appears which says
"Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file". I have
followed the instructions on the Windows Help page but still no joy. Could
anyone please help??

Windows has no capability to copy to DVD, only to CD. You need separate
software to copy to DVD. Something like Nero, Roxio, Sonic, etc and they
will copy to both CD and DVD.
I am guessing that you have a combo drive CD/DVD.
If so your computer came with the appropriate software to copy to CD or DVD.
If so, select the photos and right click on them and click on Send to on the
opening menu. Then you should see your drive listed there. Click on it to
initiate the process. Depending on the software you have, you should be
given the option to copy to a CD or DVD disk.
Make sure you insert the proper type of disc. CD-R or CD+R or CD-RW or
CD+RW. The same applies to a proper DVD disc. Some CD/DVD drive can write to
all the above while some are more restricted.
