Unable to connect to internet after sp2

hello everyone. I am facing some problems after installing sp2. I am unable
to connect to internet using internet explorer after installing sp2. I am at
complete loss. I am using sygate firewall and avast anti-virus programs.
Can anyone advise me how to rectify the problem?

We would need more info from you. Is your connection to the internet with a
dial up? Cable modem? DSL? do you have a router?

Please describe how you connect to the internet and what if any errors you
receive.

Open the services tool,
find Windows firewall ics / firewall
double click.
change start up to disable
click on stop
click on apply
ok
reboot

adjust security complains as needed.
insure sygate is running and av is running.
Internet should be accessable.
