Unable install iTunes & QuickTime

Bullwinkle

I had a working copy of iTunes v7.0 which was to be updated by apple. In
doing that it automatically corrupted the working copy.

I then tried to remove using add/remove. However, the program no longer
showed on add/remove.

I then removed it manually including cleaning the registry (carefully). The
computer is working fine except I am unable to reinstall either the original
version or the update. I get the following message:

iTunes installer completed.
The installer encountered errors before itunes could be installed.
Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time
please run the installer again"

This is gibberish a nd tells me nothing.

I have tried to install number of times and always get this same message and
a failed install.

I have asked apple itunes support without success. Can anyone help me?

I would be thankful and most appreciative.
