Older scsi board, scsi drives and cdrom here.
Adaptec 2930CU, Seagate 34520N (4.3GB), IBM DCHS09W (9GB), Plextor PX32S
cdrom. The adapter is pure 50 pin connector. The IBM is a 68 pin w/50 pin
adapter. Remainder are native 50 pin.

Seagate takes ID0, IBM takes ID4 even though precesses cdrom on the scsi
cable and set to ID1, cdrom takes ID3 at the end of the scsi cable. Before
I disconnected the IBM, the cdrom was set at ID 5 and worked the same. When
I connect the IBM again, the cdrom access is terribly slow. When I don't
have the IBM connected, the PC sometimes has problems locating the cdrom
with media due to timeout. But, when found, is quite fast. All is
ancillary equipment, not needed for the PC, so a fix is not critical.

My first guess would be a termination problem--make sure that the only
devices with termination enabled are the ones at the ends of the cable.

What ID number is the Adaptec using?

ID7 of course.
Termination at the internal scsi cdrom, and the external scsi scanner.
Don't know wha' happened this morning. Booted windows, started the game,
and the scsi cdrom had no access delay or choppiness. The scsi drives seems
okay too. Gremlins?
