old Sun Micro SCSI cables and drive boxes - any interest or market value

A former employee of Sun Microsystems wants to get rid of some SCSI
stuff. I said could help him figure out if there is any market value
for this, but that was before I actually saw what he had!

He has small quantities (5-10 of each)

* external cables 50 pin male connectors, arranged in three rows in
the style of an RS-232C serial cable

* 50 pin HD male-male cables

* Sun "611" style drive boxes, with two HD 50 female connectors. Also
50 pin HD active terminators.

very wide male/male cable. Same style as a 68HD but wider. I'm
guessing that these are 80 pins, but I haven't counted. :) [one-only]

He just wants to get some money for this stuff and not just junk it.
(his wife wants him to just throw it all out because it takes up space
in the garage!)

If you're interested, post a message here and I'll have him contact
you privately. Otherwise, if you think that other people would be
interested, what's the best way to dispose of this stuff?

Helping out someone who got laid off from Sun a few years ago (that's
a LOT off people these days!)

Rather than spamming the NG, tell him to eBay them. That's his only
option, and even taht one is not a good one. Sometimes you just gotta
toss the stuff. I have a large box of stuff just liek you describe--I
don't see it being worth enough to even list on eBay.

The market value of what you listed is single digit dollar value for each
item. This is stuff from way-back that will only help a few people who
desperately keep old stuff going. Find a flea market or list them on e-bay.

If he's in the Bay Area, he could try taking the stuff to one of
the monthly electronic swap meets. The last DeAnza swap of the year for
2006 is Oct. 14th, and the next Livermore swap after that is Nov. 5th.

Livermore info here: http://www.livermoreark.org/swap/swap.html

Happy selling.

Hi,

First, thanks to all who replied. This was not meant as spam. To me,
spam would have been doing an item-by-item list with prices, etc.

Rather, I assumed that these two groups were likely to have people who
might really need some of these items, so I thought I might be helping
somebody out. (As the old saying goes, "No good deed goes unpunished.)
